Parson Finch

Parson Finches are also know as Black-throated Finches. They live in coastal Queensland in Australia, mainly in grassy woodland. They usually gather in small flocks. They eat mainly grass seeds, but also small insects such as ants.

Our Parson Finches have white rumps, which suggests they are from the sub-species that lives in the south of Queensland. We were given all of these birds in the Autumn of 2013. The population of this species is thought to be falling because of the spread of farming and residential buildings.
